Statement:
My art practice encompasses both painting and site specific art works. I have created art works for several non gallery venues in the North West including Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve, Platt Fields Park, Victoria Baths and as part of Art Transpennine 08, on Flower Scar Hill, Todmorden Moor. This approach to presenting audiences with new work suits my unconventional methodology and use of diverse materials which has included pebbles, fur, latex, and plastic bags.
Recent studio based practice has inspired a series of canvas’s entitled ‘The Big Sell Out’. The paintings explore the repetitive nature of recurring motifs and colour schemes within the compositions. A selection of these works are on display for purchase and commission at Innerform, Hulme Street, Manchester.
Alongside my own practice I have led many school and community based workshops, and as part of this have worked closely with Mersey Valley Wardens on environmental projects. In 2006 I was commissioned to lead a series of workshops to design motifs for a new seating area in Chorlton Water Park – this was highly successful and the 25 meter long bench has become a local landmark.
I have a proven track record in fundraising and project management. Recent projects include ‘How Soon Was Now’, a publication that marks the 25th Anniversary of MASA Artists. I have also worked with web designers to create websites for SMALLpond and MASA Artists.
I have an MA in The Study of Contemporary Art Theory (Liverpool University 1996), and my career path to date has included work with Castlefield Gallery, Chorlton Arts Festival and Hot Bed Press and SMALLpond.
