Michelle Pouncey

Combining  a passion for traditional and unconventional printmaking techniques alongside a working knowledge of contemporary bookmaking, photography and textile processes Michelle Pouncey endeavors to create images/books using ‘reclaimed’ objects patterns and textures.

Initially Pouncey collects and gathers things together in order to make sense... Things that are latent in culture and disparate in nature, everyday objects that evoke a sense of nostalgia, disposable items, things that are signiicant in both a personal and practical way.
Historical reerence, social reference, texture, humour are all important, driven by a genuine curiosity into the discarded and the unwanted or overlooked.

The processes Pouncey chooses also play a signiicant part in the work. The uncontrived immediacy of printmaking processes and the spontaneous reaction give a new sense to lie to the object allowing it to evolve into something new which often leads to new ideas. She likes to deconstuct, remold, replay within the context of printmaking, bookmaking and textile processes....
