Jen Orpin

Jen Orpin's work draws inspiration from the earth’s landscape; be it from an urban or rural perspective.

Orpin focuses heavily on the natural elements that play such an integral part in creating the layered forms and structures of her subject matter.

Her travels through America have been instrumental in helping create more recent bodies of work. The experiences of flying 1,000s of feet above the Grand Canyon, travelling through downtown San Francisco in a packed trolley car and driving in eerie silence on the single-lane highway over the sea from Miami to Key West, have all played their part in helping develop the sense of spatial awareness that runs throughout the work.

These works are both abstract and figurative. They either depict an essence Orpin has recreated from memory, or are a more direct pictorial representation of the places that have had an impact on her.
