Hilary Jack

Hilary Jack works across media in socially interactive research based projects which involve the “repair” and re-use of found objects collected from city streets, charity shops and ebay. The work takes on a mildly activist edge referencing the excesses of an economy based on built in obsolescence, while highlighting our intimate relationship with material goods.
Recent exhibitons include; “E8”, at Transition Gallery London, “Meeting Point”, at Axel lapp Projects Berlin, “Extreme Crafts”, at The Centre for Contempoary Art Vilnius, Lithuania and Conflux, New York.
Hilary is also co-curator of Apartment, an artist led project and exhibition space in a one-bedroom flat on the sixth floor of a city centre council tower block in Manchester. Here, with artist and resident Paul Harfleet , emerging and established artists are invited to make new site referential work which is placed amongst Paul’s already existing everyday objects.
