'Wohnzimmer' Oil on Canvas 2008
David Gledhill's work centres on the role of ideology in image making, with a particular focus on the representation of the built environment. By articulating the conventions of painting with those of photography, film and television he is attempting to expose the mechanisms that condition the social production of meaning. His aim is to recover a critical potential in visual culture.
